Wednesday, December 17, 2008 Microsoft does a Case Study on Xiine Last weekend, we did a case study for the Microsoft Windows Client team. They sent a whole camera crew to Houston to produce a piece on Xiine (www.Xiine.com), and how we use WPF and Silverlight to create a compelling user experience on various platforms and systems, including Surface.
This was a much bigger deal than we had originally thought. They showed up with a whole van full of equipment they flew in, and the whole thing had very high production values. Here is a photo from the session in our office (taken with an iPhone... sorry about the poor quality):

I will blog more about this once the video case study becomes available on www.Microsoft.com. Basically, they spent 2+ days for what will be a 4-5 minute spot. They did a lot of filming of the Xiine WPF client and also the Surface version. We talked a lot about how it was build and how we intend to move to Windows Azure in the not too distant future (we are an Azure early implementer). They wanted a really good case study for a product that couldn't be done without a good SOA architecture, and Xiine is perfect for that.
This was a lot of fun and an interesting experience. Can't wait to see how it turned out...

Wednesday, December 17, 2008 MDC 2008 (Houston) Slides Some of my sessions at the MSDN DevCon (MDC) 2008 in Houston were modified (the F# one basically re-written), so many of you have asked me to make those slides available here. I asked MS about it, and nobody said I couldn't, so here is the download link: MDC2008Sessions.zip.
Enjoy!
