Friday, February 17, 2006 Multi-Touch UIs Touch screens are cool. However, most touch screens only support a single interaction point (the touch of a single finger basically represents the mouse). Much cooler is "multi-touch". In such environments, more than one touch point can be established. It is like having multiple mouse pointers.
To get an idea about the possibilities with such interfaces, check out this video.

Wednesday, February 08, 2006 IE7 Beta 2 Text Rendering Rocks! Beta 2 of Internet Explorer 7 finally introduces advanced text smoothing using ClearType. This makes text appear significantly more readable in Internet Explorer, and also in secondary technologies that use IEs rendering engine, such as Outlook. I noticed how much nicer it looks, but it really hit me when I want back to a machine that didn't have IE7 Beta 2 and was completely blown away how bad text looks in older browsers. And I have only used IE7 Beta 2 for a few days!
For more information on the new rendering, check out this post in the IE team blog.

Wednesday, February 01, 2006 Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Available Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta 2 is now available. You can get it from www.Microsoft.com/ie
I like this version. It finally makes a lot of the things available that has been shown in demos and on Channel9 form months. It's the little things I like. The way the tab-browsing works in this version, especially the overview tab. The ability to freely scale the content is really nice too. The RSS features are much improved. Oh, and I think the phishing filters alone will make it worth for most users to upgrade to this version. I like it!
